The 6th of June was a remarkable day for the RoboFood project. The team along with its collaborative Partners from Lausanne Hospitality School and the University of Electro-Communications from Japan, travelled to Osaka to deliver state-of-the art presentations and prepare onsite the RoboCake, which was officially tasted for the very first time.
The Robocake works were presented in front of top-tier Japanese media as well as VIP guests including the Ambassador Jean-Eric Paquet of the European Union to Japan and the President & CEO Chiaki Fukumoto of Lindt & Sprüngli Japan. The guests were impressed by the RoboCake’s special features, including gummy robotic bears that moved using air pressure and dark chocolate batteries that could lit up LED candles.
RoboFood researchers also took this opportunity to organize an academic workshop that brought together Japanese professors to exchange ideas and present their respective work on the present and future of robotic food. The event offered a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen international collaboration, and contribute to the development of this innovative area of research.
This day, organized in collaboration with the Science & Technology Office Tokyo, the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, and Presence Switzerland, was an important milestone for the project. It showed how food and robotics can come together in exciting and creative ways. The positive reactions from both the media and researchers demonstrated a strong interest in this emerging field. The event also helped strengthen connections between international partners and opened the door to future work and new ideas in robotic food.
